Charles Samuel “Chas” Addams was born on January 7, 1912 (and died on September 29, 1988). He was an American cartoonist, creator of humorous and macabre characters, known The Addams Family. The Addams Family are a satirical inversion of the ideal American family. Wealthy, eccentric with a special taste for macabre, they do not care, what the other people think of them. Among the main figures are Gomez, the father; Morticia, the mother, Gomez’s wife; their children Wednesday, the girl, and Pugsley, the boy; the fat and bald (pelato) Uncle Fester; Lurch, the butler, similar to Frankenstein and the thing, a hand which moves around. They originally appeared as a group of 150 single panel cartoons, originally published in The New Yorker between their debut in 1938 and Addams’s 1988 death. Afterward they were adapted as a television series (both live and animated), films, video games and a musical.
